Indonesia Dominates Badminton at 2018 Asian Games

Team Event

Host nation Indonesia claimed gold in both the men's and women's badminton team events at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Indonesian men's team defeated China 3-1 in the final, while the women's team swept Japan 3-0.

Men's Team Event

Indonesia's men's team was led by world number one Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and world number two Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo. Ginting defeated China's Shi Yuqi in the opening match, and Sukamuljo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon won the second match in doubles. China's Zhang Nan and Liu Cheng rallied to win the third match in doubles, but Indonesia sealed the victory with a win from Jonatan Christie in the fourth match.

Women's Team Event

Indonesia's women's team featured world number one Tai Tzu-ying and world number two Chen Qingchen. Tai defeated Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in the opening match, and Chen and Jia Yifan won the second match in doubles. Indonesia's Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu clinched the victory with a win in the third match.

Individual Event

Indonesia also performed well in the individual badminton events at the 2018 Asian Games. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting won the men's singles gold medal, defeating teammate Jonatan Christie in the final. Tai Tzu-ying won the women's singles gold medal, defeating China's Chen Yufei in the final. Indonesia also won gold in the mixed doubles event, with Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong defeating Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai in the final.
