Euro 2024: Eight things we learned from the draw

Group stage matchups determined for continental competition

England and Portugal win two out of two; Italy bounce back; Iceland record

The draw for the group stage of Euro 2024 took place on Saturday, December 2, at a UEFA event in Istanbul. The 24 qualified teams were drawn into six groups of four teams, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stage. England and Portugal are the only two teams to have won their first two matches of the competition, while Italy bounced back from an opening defeat to beat Spain in their second match. Iceland recorded their first-ever win at a major tournament, beating Romania 1-0.
